My girlfriend insults me when she is depressed.

She can still control her actions though. Maybe you need to let her know that you understand she is in pain, but insulting you is not okay. Do this in a kind way. Maybe ask her what she needs. Maybe she needs a hug, or to just vent, or something. She's obviously hurting.

you want this relationship more than me and you are desperate for a relationship, that's why you said that. When i give her space, she gets angry that I don't trust her.

It sounds like she has self-confidence/self-worth issues so she is believing you are with her out of desperation instead of you actually genuinely liking her. I don't know if you are just desperate or not because I'm just a stranger. lol
