I totally relate. After years of giving my alcoholic boyfriend genuine support, which he never took seriously beyond saying words to placate me until the next weekend of binge-drinking, my sympathy dried up and I became super cold and icy. We don't really know what kind of support Scheana gave behind the scenes. I suspect it was a problem even before they got married. Perhaps by the time we saw her on TV her sympathy for it was mostly gone. I remember not drinking so many times at parties and family gatherings for my boyfriend, and then thinking what the hell is the point? In two days he is going to be black-out drunk with one of his buddies and come home at 4am to snort coke and/or pass out on the floor and leave the front door wide open.
