My K/D Ratio is 0.24. Should I quit?

I don't think he's wrong, it's the community that, imo, overpromoted/hyped high k/d and accuracy scores as something ultra prestigious. I won't lie my outfit contributed quite a bit to this culture, with probably only dasanfall to claim a bigger contribution. Many players have grown fond of the "survival metagame" I feel we have overhyped. Once these players have grown adept reading the map and using ps2's gunplay, they find their enjoyment coming from how long can they push the streak without dying. It's a minigame for them, by no means is it the point of Planetside 2.

I genuinely believe OO got where it is off the backs of the support player creating a genuinely supported front for skilled shooters. At no point in planetside will the guy playing on a potato be 100% useless. If he knows where to stand, lurk, and repair in safety he will become the absolute hero of his team. Fun fact, I started playing ps2 with, during small fights, 30 FPS on average. I couldn't hit shit. I only had a bearable k/d (a whopping 1.2) because of how crazy overpowered breaker rockets and the UBGL were at release. Trust me, it's hard(ish) for you to cheese kills nowadays with ultra low frames and that's a good thing.

What I did was started to play PS2 from the map screen. I started running squads and platoons through the map screen while I scouted on the battle outskirts as infil or LA, or created a max triage station/ammo re supply hut in a important building near the front and then directed my troops accordingly. Usually that just meant calling out new AMS locations and dropping waypoints. For the longest time I did this every time a fight would go 48+. I loved the game so much, even though it was almost unplayable for me, that I figured out a new way to play it. This is my advice to you, OP, if you truly love ps2 and don't want to quit.

I also think I need to stress the disadvantage you are playing under. With your frames people can kill you the moment they render around corners, likely your computer will actually lock up when they pop out guns blazing, you cannot win in this scenario. If this is something you cannot accept I recommend playing a new game until you can PC upgrade. Another thing to recognize is that 1.0 k/d is actually just slightly above average. We've found in recursion that most people are actually in the 0.7-0.8 range.

I think the TL;DR is this:

If you play ps2 for the TDM, yeah you should probably quit with sub 40 fps.

You don't need consistent frames to play the RTS, or to support your team.

Figure out what you love about PS2, and decide accordingly.
