My kid is interested in our local vocational/technical high school A&P program. It’s FAA certified and the student graduates with the airframe certificate. They still need to complete the powerplant training. Is this worth it? It’s free. How much money will the powerplant certification cost?

I think I know the exact school this is too, one of the few in the county that does this, I did it and I know make $90k at 22 years old with a large airline. It’s great but your child has to be academically good, it’s a demanding curriculum and it’s up to him Tom are sure he has all his credits in order to graduate. He then has to get his power plant with adults in a college like environment. Total cost for me was $2000 for oral and practical for both the Airframe and power plant, I did the power plant for free on a pell grant. It’s been good for me, however nothing beats college or a degree, my idea was to have a good job while attending college so I wouldn’t have to work at McDonald’s, it turns out I made so much that college wasn’t worth it to me personally…. Looking back I do regret not going, nothing beats working with your mind.
