Super insightful and my wife and I are very conscious about stuff you posted (i.e. use of words like "smart" for example, I actually have to get on my mother about that quite often myself, and understanding emotions). I grew up somewhat the same environment as you (without the result to show for it) so I'm definitely putting my daughter's physical and mental wellness above all.

Different topic but how long did you practice karate for? My daughter showed sudden interest in martial arts so we just enrolled her in a local tae Kwon do class, and she's having a blast with it every week. Do you feel it's something that brought value and lessons in your life?
