My male trainee decided to give me critical feedback on how I can improve (on his third day at the job…)

The attitudes in this thread are terrifying. I'm an abuse survivor and as a result find it very difficult to provide feedback to anyone in a position of power over me. The fear response is real and leaves me shaking and unable to function or sleep, sometimes for days.

The idea that it is completely inappropriate to provide feedback to a superior, because they're more senior to you, is absolutely shattering. I did not expect to see it in this subreddit.

It's taken me and many others a long time to get to the point where we feel safe to give feedback, or even assert the right to say no to a superior.

I'm struggling to understand the viciousness in these comments when there isn't any detail on the nature of what was said.

I'm scared and sad.
