I came searching for this and cannot post due to mobile. My grandmother is a holocaust survivor, fled to California and married a catholic Mexican man. My grandmother stopped practicing but I know it’s a part of my heritage. My Jewish landlord introduced me to a Jewish neighbor and when asked said I am not part of the tribe. He knows my family past but this really hurt me. I feel like I am a direct descendant of a victim of Jewish persecution and to be labeled as non Jewish upsets me. I am half Dutch half Mexican Jew, so I thought. Yet I feel, after recent interactions, like I am not a part of the community. The whole ordeal is upsetting to me and I could use some outside perspective.
