My nephew's public school showed the film "God's Not Dead" in one of his classes. Super pissed right now.

This has been my and my husband's experience in TX too. We know to keep our mouth shut. We have zero doubt we'd lose our jobs if people knew we weren't believers. Of courae they wouldn't say thats the reason but theyd all the sudden "find" a reason.

Religion is everywhere in our town, even on the "spirit shirts" kids and teachers wear to the public school, the art classes decorate the hallways with painted crosses every Easter, and during the week Evolution is taught in Biology that teacher makes sure to tell her kids she is forced to teach it but doesn't believe it and her BFF English teacher has the kids read Genesis in English class that same week...because it's legal to have them read it in English. The principal is the son of the towns popular Baptist church, so complaining to him sure won't do any good.

It is sad I have to tell my kids to hide it as well, I would not go well if their friends or teachers knew. On their own they finally came up with telling people they go to church a couple towns over so we can attend with their grandfather since he lIves alone. Not true of course and I hate they have to lie, but I told them I understand and 100% will back them up. They used to be honest and say we dont attend church ( they knew bettet than to say we didnt believe, they just said we didn't go to a church). Their friends, friends parents and teachers just could NOT wrap their brain around that concept. My kids would get bombarded with invitations to church, constantly asked if they had been saved or baptised, that they need to come to their church and get right with the Lord, gifted bibles, etc. Once they started saying they went to church people where fine with it an not a word more. I hope one day they can live somewhere they don't have to hide it. :-(
