My only problem with this run

You found a part of my discomfort with this run, a part of what I meant in my last post.

I didn't expect this to be Red 2 in the way that I didn't expect us to do exactly the same things (praising Helix Fossil, being carried by a Pidgeot) but I certainly wished we didn't spit on what I consider as our culture, our legacy, our soul. Yes I talk about very serious stuff for a stream which was never very serious but I think there was something else behind praising Helix, somehow it had a meaning, it symbolised our community. This run showed that for a majority of the current community, it had no meaning and that's disturbing for someone from Red.

I also thought of Dome when I wrote :

I just felt shame. What's the point of going on if you're so distant from the other players, if what you see as our culture means nothing for them ? That's a part of my story but some people feel the same about other points and just leave because they no longer "have the spark".

Now, it's not difficult to ignore the "Praise Dome" stuff (honestly it wasn't that overwhelming), to forget the fossils (I like to think it didn't matter for many people) but there are times when it's just too much and I'm gonna tell you the very moment when I really stopped caring.

We were in Pallet Town, heading to Viridian and we had just done a perfect PC shuffle for the bag : we had the HMs we needed (Surf and Strength), something vital for the rest of the game, we had the Bicycle (funny :p), we had no Cut (dangerous for Crabhammer), no Pokeflute and no Dome (Dome was a huge PC bait for Cinnabar), We also had no map, which was annoying but not that much it seems.

People, led by a confused z33k33 (either go up or down), came back for Dome and obtained one of the worst PC shuffle : Dome, Pokeflute, no Surf, no Strength, no Bicycle, no Map.

Z33k33 then said "Let's leave !' which was a terrible mistake, people left and only few people complained about the Map. We traded the best PC shuffle for the worst one because of Dome. It hurts. We eventually came back to the PC and obtained a decent shuffle but we also eventually got rid of our team partly because of Dome (second PC shuffle at Cinnabar, when we had... Starmie).

You may see it as a childish reaction but at this point, the stream was dead to me. This community didn't deserve Helix, this community could survive without my inputs.

In a way, this behavior towards Dome was understandable. It was a mix between newcomers who would never understand Red, former domists (I don't really know why you would support Dome back then unless you want to be a rebel/you love democracy...) and disgusting traitors. I guess it was a way to draw a distinction with Red, to kill the father. The problem is that hundred thousands people lived a wonderful journey with the father and some of them couldn't forget what they did.

This event just triggered a ragequit I had had in mind for a few days because of the general situation (partly Chat Leading).

Democracy came as another backstabbing for me and triggered my return to ragequit again :p

You talk about Anarchy as a Red thing, I think it was more than that. Some people wanted to see what point we could reach in a full Anarchy Red, some just couldn't stand what they consider as "cheating" (I'm not gonna state my points again but I think you know them by now). You talk about "just one mode", "just one switch" but for anarchists, it means way more than that (at least we haven't used it for TMs yet). We perfectly know the "just once" talks : it starts with something trivial and then we use it to beat ledges, heal or ensure we beat the game by getting potions/making the right switches.

We overcame the ledge, we overcame Rocket Hideout and we used Democracy to make a "perfect" Party switch and people were ready to stall for it. It's no big deal for you and for many people but for us, it tells a lot. It reminds us of the switch of Zapdos -though back then we couldn't ragequit just before a final we had deserved.

That's a way of playing, it is what the majority of the community chose. If we can't stop it, we have to be angry and ragequit. If the community worships Dome, if the community sees no problem on stalling one day for Democracy Abuse, if the community wants to spit on Red's grave, I don't belong to the community anymore. If it's just me, it doesn't matter but I'm afraid I'm not alone.

Can I really blame people who didn't live Red though ? No but it still unreasonably feels like a treason.
