My own mother tries to sabotage me

Look into IF, and definitely have a chat with her. It might be fine to have cake for special occasions or once and a while, but if you're trying to change your habits for your health, its going to be better for everyone if you can get people in your vicinity on board.

If your household isn't into extended fasting, intermittent is something you could do. A 16:8 or 18:6 would likely mean skipping or having a late breakfast, and not having snacks after a certain time. If you're into podcasts, The Fasting for Life Podcast is a very conversational and accessible resource for IF and EF, put out by 2 doctors. They did a good episode on the cephalic phase of digestion, which is the cue/trigger for "see-food" diets.

Hope you can get your mum on your side, or at least not working against you.
