My own personal thoughts on this anti gun post written by some fantasy writer

This is a post that Victoria Holmes, an editor that used to be part of the Erin Hunter writer team (they were most notably known for the popular fantasy series Warriors Cats), wrote on her Facebook page to her fans last year. This was written in response to the Stoneman Douglas Highschool Shootings.

There are so many things wrong with what Holmes wrote in that post. Her authoritative, aggressive, and overly entitled attitude towards a culture that she doesn't understand really rubs me the wrong way. Keep in mind that Holmes is British, and has very rarely visited the United States. She is a bit overly sensationalistic, and is clearly influenced by too many clickbait “news” articles.

Why does she feel like she is a position to decide that guns are “unnecessary” for others? Does she realize that many honest Americans use guns for self defense, recreation, hunting, etc.? I just feel like you shouldn't force your world view on other people.

What sickens me the most about the whole post, is that she had to make the entire tragedy about her books. How did Holmes “know” that Warriors fans were among the victims? Did someone release the book reading list of those students or something? It’s just such a stupid, out of touch, and “all about me” thing to write. In my personal opinion, it’s almost on par with Justin Biber writing Anne Frank would have been a Bieber fan.

The Warriors series used to be a childhood favorite of mine. I still have some affection for the franchise, even though the series is now a dead horse zombie that just doesn’t know when to end. However, seeing this post made me lose a lot of respect for some of the writers involved.

What are your thoughts on what Holmes wrote?
