Latino or Asian heritage? i know im wildly generalizing but im filipino colombian and we almost have the same situation with our parents. i have since moved out but i still give them money. i just have in my head that i wont give any more than the fixed amount ive set, but i still spend a lot of hours worrying about them getting sick, being older and unhappy, etc etc. It has derailed me. therapy helps but outside that the cultural aspect is so deeply ingrained in me...but being away from the situation physically at least makes me feel less awful not seeing them make bad financial decisions, be too proud and showy, etc.. it’s tough. Our relationship has been ruined.. I feel for you OP.
