My parents want to put down my 14 year old cat for peeing on the bed

This is a heartbreaking experience and I’m sorry you have to be responsible for finding a solution. You should be focused on school & friends — you clearly have a big heart and care for your kitty a lot.

My cat had similar behavioral issues for a few years when she had to live with my mom post-college due to my living situation. She was so angry & did not have any understanding or compassion. I’ve had cats all my life & feel knowledgeable about their behavior — I would say 9/10 times it’s a sign of an underlying physical or mental condition. If they are unwilling to explore what that may be with your vet (more importantly pay for it), I would look into some local cat rescues in your area. Plan B (or I guess C) would be a city shelter.

I volunteer with a cat rescue non-profit org and often times they pull cats like yours from shelters after an “owner surrender” — most of them have in-house vet care or have some sort of partnership with a vet nearby to give them a 2nd chance. If you write up an email explaining your situation you can just copy & paste it to a few rescues in your area. It’s worth it to reach out and at least try, for her sake and yours. If you need help finding this info, I could help you research for real.

I’m so sorry you have to handle this and are alone in wanting to find a remedy that isn’t euthanasia, your pure heart will take you many places in life.
