My parents yelled at my little brother with ADHD cus he wasn't focused on a movie and I stood up for him

I didn’t have abusive parents.

They were also my fiercest advocates. I grew up in a time/area when & where ADHD wasn’t quite accepted. I’d be made fun of and reprimanded heavily by people around me for it.

They knew it and would never accept any shit from anyone else. They’d fight hard for me — every teacher, family member, etc. And they moved locations for me.

I think tiger parenting is not accepted in Western society. But it instilled discipline

<< Surviving and still functioning>> isn’t right. Flourished; competitive in my own right

Academics aren’t everything (probably nothing), but being able to work with a condition that is not kindly accepted whatsoever until you reach a certain pedigree
