My Progressive Diatribe

Two (minor) things I disagree with:

  1. Election Holiday. As a lifelong WA voter, I've only ever voted by mail, and as a result I've never had to worry about making the time to get to the polls. You go to full vote-by-mail, the election holiday discussion becomes moot. I also don't like the idea of designating only election day as a holiday, as it gives the impression that we only vote once a year (assuming we're talking about an annual election holiday here, since more than one holiday per year is a total non-starter).
  2. Legalizing Prostitution. This is fine, until you realize that the majority of what people consider "prostitution" is actually trafficking, and regulating the late-stage capitalism of it isn't much of a solution to the actual problem. Yes, these women will stop getting sucked into the criminal justice system, but we still haven't addressed the root problem, which is that there are men who feel entitled to rent another human being, typically one who is using sex for survival, for their own entertainment.
