Going past the obvious with the fanfic levels of self-inserting, if you look at the plot synopsis this is barely a superhero story. You can take out every reference to superheroes out of the synopsis, and you don't change the plot at all. It's "I don't get along with my mom, I have gay feelings for another girl, after high school I'm going to skip college to spite my mom, and I'm going to move to Paris instead."

But knowing how modern comics like to have every storyline be about some world ending level threat, I'm going to guess Darkseid will show up last minute, will be interested in the MC for some reason, be homophobic, and then self insert MC will defeat him with the power of righteous self acceptance.
