My Response to the Recent TIME Article

Doing any kind of actually actions to change things would at the very least threaten employment and future prospects which is never good.

I'm not saying that it's right just the main reason that holds everybody back. I was more trying to acknowledge the issues with dealing with collapse. I think we should do all we can to mitigate collapse systemically and personal wise.

I've already witnessed enough people advocating for bullshit "lifeboats" as well as live it up consumption and I despise them both. We are seeing this happen in real time as countries drown refugees and users on here defend it as if something better can be built off the corpses of the innocent.

nobody gives a damn with good reason.

Yeah I should have changed it earlier to fit what I was really thinking. I don't think there's an excuse for such behavior and much of it is a self fulling prophecy but I think it's hard to say convince people to make such reductions unless there is a great probability of success.

I don't drive, I vote green, I try to limit my energy usage, and I've been parts of groups trying to raise awareness on these issues in the past and possible solutions or mitigation. I think doing the right thing in terms of collapse is worth it even if we still fail at part of it but my own motivation would not work for most people.

I can't even convince my own family to even limit their own extremely excessive consumption since they've bought cars and gone on vacations in the past year despite talking about the topics with them at length. Hell they even know about the issues as well as I do.
