My response to tonight's "update"

You're getting downvoted by idiot drivers who will fight to the death for their right to make below minimum wage before expenses.

When I first started driving for this shit, I was making at LEAST $30/hr... It was enough that I could just drive the morning rush and I spent the rest of my day looking for a REAL job.

Slowly that number dwindled down, requiring me to work 40+ hours a week... morning + evening rush hours, nights on the weekends... to BARELY make the same amount of money as when I was working barely 20.

It's not sustainable. I was starting to neglect my health (both physical and mental... do you want your driver having a borderline panic attack from the stress of driving 10 hours that day just to barely get by?) I was also starting to neglect maintenance on my car.

And sadly, what's happening to Uber & Lyft is the same thing that happens to all companies once they IPO: they are beholden to the shareholders, at the expense of workers and the public.

Fuck'em... if they can't make money by paying drivers appropriately then sayonara... a more competent company will surely fill the gap.
