My salary is $91,395

Telecommunications design Engineer. $22/hr +1.5 OT Typical 40-50hr weeks depending on projects. Supposedly quarterly bonuses but somehow profits always seemed to be redirected to the stock ownership program that was heavily populated by mgmt and other senior members. TLDR: no bonuses

I literally design the fiber/coax infrastructure that makes sure people have internet. From ftth, to node segs/splits, coax line extensions and designing high-rise networks.

It was a production job with a trial by fire mentality that contracted out to arguably the worst ISP in the states.

To make matters worse the ISP has its own Engineers that do the same job for 2x pay but had a handshake agreement with my company to not hire any of theirs.

Left that position for a higher paying one doing the exact same thing for a more boutique firm with better growth options.

Still not great but no complaints so far.

Added note: the people who design your internet connection ABSOLUTELY KNOW HOW TRASH IT IS. We would love to design great internet but 3 things. •The ISP won't pay to do it. •A good chunk of the designs are done from half way across the world and tdgaf •the ISP field engineer ultimately makes the decision since they are the one at the site.
