My school's toilet view

No. My parents were pretty reckless with money to be honest. They sold off a lot of the properties they used to have so they could get a crappy houseboat. They sold a huge house they used to own in singapore that would be worth at least $20 million today.

My parents weren't really into cars. He had a top of the line range rover and my mum a mercedez convertible. Mum has never REALLY worked a day in her life. Was a model and travelled around the world with my father. They had quite a lot of money invested in property ($8 million). However after dad was fired a few years ago and he lost a lot of it as he couldn't keep up with his negative gearing & had to sell off a bunch of assets on the cheap. So he was left with maybe $6 million. Then they got divorced.

My dad worked in oil making around $400k a year not including his bonuses and investments. So maybe $500k before tax? We didn't live in a huge fancy house. A lot of the kids I went to school with were in 3 storey $10 - $12 million dollar mansions with lifts in toorak. I have no idea what their parents did. A lot of them were lawyers, business men, doctors, trust fund babies. A lot of the wives were ex models or born rich. So I felt "poor" compared to them living in a $2 million dollar house near brighton. Even though I'm obviously not from a poor family, compared to them I was seen as the less fortunate kid (LOL).

How stupid. I mean, the money would have been more useful if they put it towards an apartment for me. It was a waste IMO. Not that I'm stupid by any means but university doesn't pay off like it used to. A lot of girls I went to school with, despite their 97.9 ATAR scores etc. Can't get a job to save their lives. In fact, some girls who were older STILL can't get a job despite their degrees etc. At 25 they can't get work.

So IMO private school education is a waste of money. The 280k they spent on it could have gone towards an apartment. Not to mention the bullying I had to put up with in those exclusive schools for being "poor".
