I think I see a possible way to get revenge if OP is cunning enough - I'm sure there are plenty of ways to cause $500 worth or non obvious damage to the car - and get away with it with a great deal of planning & patience.

Then again if that would be to risky I would think you might be the family's computer technician so I suspect the thief that happens to look like your sister will eventually run into difficulty that requires something to be fixed

... unfortunately OP will not be able to do it but I'm sure the able store might be able to fix it

... wonder if the sister has been keeping backups because if not then her personal data my end up being lost

... maybe the system will end up being non repairable and require a replacement

The funny thing about taking a computer in for repair is it tends to cost money, particularly so if its something not covered by warranty.
