My T gave me an ultimatum

I'm not sure how it works in Poland.

In the US, I have to abide by certain ethical rules, including abandonment. Under normal circumstances, I can't just stop therapy with someone without providing referrals.

Here, licensure is complete. It does not matter if you take insurance or don't, or if you are in private practice or not.

A patient can contact their state licensing board and file a complaint. Even if an investigation proves the therapist is not at fault, every single year the therapist applies for malpractice insurance they have to fully explain a complaint.

If the complaint is verified, the ethics board can suspend, fine or in extreme cases, remove a clinician's license.

If what you are in is group therapy with this person, it is appropriate for him to enforce a rule of attendance. You can't completely reschedule a whole group to accommodate one member. And it disrupts group dynamics to have people frequently be absent. Totally different than individual therapy.

Here, group members sign a contract agreeing to attendance and confidentiality. They also agree to payment policies.

I have not seen clients in person since March. I don't know what it is like where you are, but there are no group therapies going on in my state. It's unsafe.

Hope that helps.
