My thoughts on the fall of Magnus.

He spent time with them, and constantly talked to them as if they were his children rather than merely subordinates. Then he drops everything and returns to Terra and tells them nothing. When they question what he says or why he does something, he just goes, "Because I said so."

It's not like he doesn't have time. He deals with their problems. He goes to make the Word Bearers kneel and tell Lorgar to stop fucking around. He holds the Council of Nikea and crushes Magnus' dream. Funny thing about those two? They're the psyker primarchs. Big E could have just had personal conversations with them easily through +psyker communication+ and just get the problems removed completely. He simply doesn't. He has the time and the means but he doesn't. We can therefore only really conclude that it's a character flaw. He doesn't have to explain himself to the most powerful beings in his Imperium, but really, he should have. "He is the Emperor so he doesn't have to explain himself" is not a good argument. It literally makes him a tyrant, the very reason that at least two of the traitor primarchs turned on him (or at least, the reason that they state).
