I worked in a small independent Italian deli, and the owner had a sign next to his register that said, "If we don't give you a receipt, the sandwich is free." Well, this one guy came in who was a regular and called my manager out on it. The fucking jackass took the money out of the tip jar that we split at the end of the day.

This was a Mom n Pop shop that was run by a man and his father. The coworkers were 3 other workers and a cook in the back. We would take the order, make the sandwich, and run the cash register. If anyone has ever worked in a deli, it's a lot of work. Opening and closing all in a day; cutting meats, cheeses, making catering orders. We would drive a catering van to deliver orders at times. This was all while making $10.50/hour back in 2011 so whatever that is for today's pay, but you know that tips at the end of the day are nice because you get to go home with, yes, beer and weed money.

That Summer that I worked there was fucking amazing because I was like 23 and it was me and a few other dudes and we would get to bring home food at the end of the night; the owner was rarely there so we would take all the food that would get thrown out that night. Oh man such good times getting stoned in the back dumpster area, closing up shop, taking food, getting tip money and buying beer.

It was hard work so we earned it.
