My trip to London turned into a disaster!

I don't know you, I don't know how much stuff you bring on a vacation of 1 week, or of 5 weeks, and I don't know how long you planned to stay in London. I also don't know how strong you are, but given that you actually carried your suitcase, something tells me you're capable of carrying the amount of stuff you brought with you.

So, ignore me if you're carrying too much or feel you are too high class for it, but my advice would be: don't buy a suitcase. Buy a backpack instead. Carry it all on your back. Does not scratch any expensive hotel floors, does not break any wheels, and does not tumble sideways when you pull it off and on the many many many curbs you'll be passing in London.

And London will never be exactly like in The Holiday. The Holiday is a favourite film of mine, and London is a favourite city of mine (spent many holidays there), but I've never linked the two together. Black cabs are super expensive, and the real London experience is had by doing what the Londoners do: get on the tube, maybe even take the bus. Cabs are for rich tourists, or perhaps for every short distances. Heathrow to London centre is a long distance!
