My issue is her existence
Like if she was from a doctor dude in like “quarantine town #53” then yea whatever but the fact that she’s the daughter of a firefly doctor, ya know, the rebel group taking on the government militia???
Never mind the fact that she’s introduced with the smoothness only rivaled by Omikrons story simplicity, but she’s from a doctor who would’ve had to 1) Have successful sex, 2) Keep pregnant wife alive, 3) Keep baby and wife alive during and after delivery, and 4) Do all of that and still be in her life…while in the rebel faction taking on the government militia
And that it’s just a throw away origin of “Uh that doctor that you can shoot/be forced to stab in a cutscene had a baby……YES we DID plan this from the get go” just rubs me the wrong way. Honest to god if they literally said “Tes lived” I would’ve been more inclined to deal with that
All in all, I feel that given the setting, her origin story brings more questions and issues of relevance, I would rather she be someone who we are introduced to in the game and then we have the falling out leading to antagonist status.
It’s simple J: “Hey Ellie it’s Joel we are the cool people who get shit done to keep our people alive, let’s go on a supply run, we should bring Abby she’s STRONK”
E: “Jesus Joel that’s a good idea, hey Abs wanna hear about how Joel killed a bunch of dudes when I was 14?”
J: “Hey I killed a lot of people, good and bad and related to bugs in a symbolic way to represent a group, even a doctor man”
A: “……Joel did you kill my dad??????”

Though I don’t want to directly blame the writers, I’m sure they don’t get full control to be honest, though as much as I am bugged by Abby, why the fuck is Ellie not the one being impregnated? Like if she doesn’t want a baby then fine, but if her gf is pregnant then why isn’t the girl with, idk, the only immunity to the zombie fungus, not even trying to spread that.
But hey maybe we are all wrong and the game will be great, all Ik is that I wasn’t super into it, and I will either wait or simply not buy the game
