My Uncle Marvin. One of the 1353 US lives lost to COVID yesterday. One of the 351,682 US lives lost to COVID since the beginning of the pandemic.

70k is a lot of people regardless of the denominator. The anecdote served to point out there is more to a disease than just mortality rate. There is plenty of unquantified suffering to be taken into account.

Once again, we’ve poured tons of resources into it, and it’s still raging. There is a new variant with higher ro value spreading as well. We can table the discussion on sacrificing the elderly for the sake of the economy.

Regardless of my qualifications, if you have no experience in disease control I have a hard time taking your opinion with much weight. These recommendations are made by people who have dedicated their lives to the study of infectious disease. I don’t argue with my mechanic when my car breaks down, and I encourage everyone to check their own qualifications before going off.

It is an emotional topic. People are dying horrific deaths while their family members are barred from seeing them to prevent further spread. I don’t want a medal or anything in my ass. I do want people to walk the walk before they minimize the seriousness of the problem.

“Covid religion” and “Covid hysteria” is speech of conspiracy theorists.
