My wife spends $1000 on clothes sometimes. I can't get her to stop.

So your advice is treat his wife like a child and give her an allowance? Oh that's gonna go over well for sure. She's not even mature enough to admit she's over spending yet she'll gladly accept being out on a shoestring allowance?

How about this, she gets herself a job and learns the value of money? I bet when she has to earn that thousand dollars she won't be so quick to blow it instantly on clothes.

Really is baffling the gender bias on Reddit. If a wife posted about her husband blowing her money every last one of you would say "divorce his ass" but when a woman is spending the money it's all "talk to her, work with her, include her in the budgeting." And no that's not just an assumption, that's actually what's said every time I've seen it come up here and other subs. Seems the two people who jumped on my ass for my post are both former people who would spend their husbands money with little regard. Ironic I'd say wouldn't you? I'm married to a woman who constantly spends money on stuff so I'm not just speaking from inexperience. I learned years ago to not share a bank account with her. She's always broke and I have money saved.
