My workplace is requiring us to come back soon - what are you doing?

at the end of the day, we're all people and just trying to get shit done. at the end of the year when review time comes around i know which of my reporting team members i mange or colleagues i'd be more likely to want to keep, ask for a promotion etc... and it sure as fuck isn't the guy that's 100% always remote, and only ever wants to interact with me and the rest of staff via sporadic chat messages and email.

it's work, shit happens, and we need to be responsive. for me that's about 10x easier when we're all in the same office space. yes that means we have to put on pants, can't walk the dog 2x a day and make have lunch at home. yea i'm sorry but it's work, and i have shit i need to get done, and things i will be asked about if my team members drop the ball on. the fact of the matter is not everyone is as productive as they need to be from home and nobody wants to play the HR nightmare of having to manage that in a way that won't end in some bs litigation. if i had the option of 0 tolerance, fire at the first whiff of BS I'd be all for WFH 100% until proven otherwise, instead i have to manage end user requests as to why things arent being done as fast as they used to be and i also can't just go to my team member and be like "so, when you're WFH you know you're supposed to be working?"
