My World got a little darker today...

Well, with some keyboards, the noise is inherent; the thing about loud/clicky keyboards comes from the old IBM buckling spring keyboards, which felt amazing, but which were very loud. Some of the MX key types try to emulate that sound a little, adding an extra click; Blues and Greens do that, maybe more. Personally, I think that's a little silly; they don't even click at the point of actuation, so the sound is entirely cosmetic.

The Topre switches are very quiet; they're basically the best rubber domes on the market. When you first get one, they're kinda loud and not that comfortable, but after awhile, the rubber breaks in, and the springs underneath the domes start to take most of the load. They get very quiet and very nice to type on, particularly for extended sessions. Plus, they're super, super durable; when the spring is sufficiently compressed, it triggers a capacitative sensor, which has no moving parts. The keyboards will basically last as long as their springs, and probably longer if you bought a new set after your first twenty million keystrokes or so.

They're really good keyboards. Kinda pricey, and they feel like a normal rubber dome (ie, crappy) keyboard for the first month, but they are GREAT after that.
