You can do that, actually. One way is with RF; moreover, you can bridge the airgap with the skin-effect. If the circuit gets more electricity than it can handle, it has to go somewhere, so it radiates. You can see this by using an Arduino and making the GPIO pins become antenna.

It's not "easy", but it's certainly not impossible. I, too, have a background in infosec, specifically with offensive security and red teaming. I've done, and researched to elevate the state of the art, a lot of these side-channel attacks.

But, did these things happen during this election, at scale across the country, with specialized operatives and a coordinated game plan? Absolutely not.
