The myth of the golden age of reading and the myth of the ideal reader. Even before the digital age, book-lovers were always prone to distraction.

Have you looked into other causes for his severe ADHD? This is not meant as a critique at all, just a genuine question. There’s a lot of good info out there now about ADHD/ADD being tied to dietary issues, neurological connection issues, and trauma (even accumulative micro-traumas). My chiropractor shares a lot of good info about spinal health since it’s literally the backbone of all neurological connection, and how it relates to neuroplasticity in the brain. Very interesting stuff. That is not to say everyone with ADHD can be cured, always some outliers, but it’s true the brain is not designed to keep up with the constant instantaneous pace of technology. As an adult, it’s probably easier to exert some willpower into slowing down your attention span, as opposed to being a kid, which I think was the intent of the post, but daydreamers will always exist and nobody will ever have perfect focus. It makes sense that technology works better for your son, because it’s already meeting him on a similar pace, just not ideal longterm.
