I agree, much more productive, though also a true writer in the sense that was his training and job as an academic. Many authors nowadays just happen to be good story tellers or writers but they weren't trained to produce or just really suck at productivity paralysis. Take Sanderson for example, dude is a machine, but also a well trained writer. Pat was basically an engineer going nowhere and locked up with depression and picked up writing and happened to wrote a great story in the early 2000s. What many forget is dude has already written DoS. He wrote the whole thing, he's just been editing and perfecting ever since (per his telling at a signing event). Sometimes it's hard mentally for people to release their work, it's a common problem among the great artists in any field.
