Nanaimo street disorder getting worse, mayor says

Across the world, renters who are looking for affordable places to live are being driven away by the rise of short-term rentals, including Airbnbs. Construction won’t be able to meet the demand for affordable housing, especially as these homes and apartments get taken off the market to solely be used as vacation rentals. It sucks. Because it's causing an increase in rent. City's have already tried putting a stop to it. There are thousands listings for airbnb. Yet less than 100 places available to rent. It's the homeowners right to do as they please. It's only adding to less housing and more homeless. More homeless = more crime. This used to be a safe place to live. Like many other cities that have homeless problems. Airbnb is getting the blame and so they should.
