Nancy Pelosi calls coronavirus the ‘Trump virus’ after White House briefing

I agree that Nancy naming it after Trump is way more petty then Trump naming it after China. They bare significant responsibility for this pandemic.

But let's be real about why he is calling it the China Virus, reelection politics. It is no secret that Trump is positioning himself as the "tough on China" candidate (which he is). Simply look at his anti-Biden ads.

Really confronting China is not helped by naming a virus after them. It has zero effect in the realm of international affairs, and no influence over world leaders.

It's only real effect is to remind voters that he is tough on China, which he is. But let's not pretend he isn't calling it the China Virus for political effect primarily.
