I think this is just Nancy Pelosi doing her own thing and dragging everyone along with it. She's always been pretty Anti-China and pulled similar stunts in the past, even during times when tensions were lower. Biden, the military, and those in the bureaucracy don't think it's a good idea, but are they really in charge anymore? The growing lack of coordination and consensus between the ruling party is a pretty bad sign of things to come when members of the elite being to use their positions to push their own agendas and interest rather than defer them for the interest of the overall state as corrupt as it may be. If any sense of unity within a ruling party wanes, it becomes open to the risk of sabotage by its own members.
