Is narcissism becoming normalised in the mainstream?

Apologies, it's a reference for old people like me. And yes, you're spot on. Everyone has both good and bad within them and fall within a spectrum of that. Recognizing that is how you can stay out of the black and white thinking as well.

I think the hardest part of recognizing all that is watching as drones get swept up in these trends, online cults, and dysfunctional beliefs, is knowing that there are people out there that can't see the grey; they pretend to be teachers.

They cling onto the blacks and whites for dear life because the grey is terrifying. It'll mean they'll have to see their own grey, that they're not perfect, that they can actually accidentally be bad and not realize the harm beforehand.

That's a scary place. I can imagine someone who is highly narcissistic probably lives in fear of that place because of the punishments of what it was like to make those mistakes. With the rise of the exposure trend, consequences can be dire.

There is no incentive to heal that narcissism even if they want to. Even if by some glimmer they can self-reflect enough to want to change, the world is so difficult to survive in that being altruistic can actually backfire. It can ruin you. Why change?
