Why do narcissists often repeat the same stories and talking points over and over again as though they hadn't already told you.

I mean, anxiety definitely adds quirks to the way I speak because of the added pressure anxiety brings. My communication skills fluctuate on how comfortable I feel. I repeat things and go off on one due to wanting to seek a 'successful interaction' with the person in front of me or I can't word things right so I word it a hundred diff ways on bad days (but usually just stay quiet and observe.) Centring yourself in the conversation can obviously be narcissistic but it's not always the case and can be someone grappling with hypervigilence! Anxiety permeates a lot so ofcourse it'd permeate communication.

I think it's narcissistic when you're dealing with a narcissist and they do it all the ~fricken'~ time. Offloading emotions / repeating stories with no consideration of the other person you're talking to. My Dad no lie would talk in a constant loop with one point lasting hours. It's dehumanising.
