You're not being specific. There are many things to consider. Firstly the Mangekyo Sharingan is very rare. Only a few Uchiha have ever been able to awaken it. Even the Sharingan itself is very rare in the Uchiha clan. So lets forget MS exists.

The Hyuuga members on average were better than the Uchihas. But the upper tier Uchiha members were a lot better than the Hyuugas.

If you're talking about the utility of both eyes, then Sharingan is a little better than Byakugan for an average joe to have. However the more skill you have the better the Byakugan becomes.

Since you said you've only watched some of Naruto. You're probably came to this question by watching Neji. If you're wondering about Neji vs Sasuke. At that point Neji was undoubtedly superior. But it was not solely because of his Byakugan. Neji was more talented than Sasuke. He was the most gifted person to come out of the Hyuuga Clan so his skill with the Byakugan was second to none. As opposed to Hinata, who was trash. That comment that Kakashi made doesn't imply that Byakugan is better. It only means it was better in seeing through stuff.
