NASA has gone a year without a formal leader - with no end in sight

For someone used to watching Washington DC it doesn't make sense.

This is driving me crazy. People, especially political pundits and journalists keep saying they are "surprised" by Trump and his moves, but how?! Trump's move to not appoint a new NASA head is not remotely surprising and it makes perfect sense.

The man doesn't care. That's it. There's no grand strategy to his not naming a NASA head. He likes government agencies to fail, he doesn't think they need staff, etc. He doesn't care. It's not hard, it's not surprising, it's just the worst possible timeline that we live in and we have to recognize it.

It is not surprising or weird. This choice isn't something that "doesn't make sense." It makes perfect sense to anyone who is "used to watching Washington" and is sane, because we all know that no normal Washington rules or guidelines apply.
