Nashville Promoter Sheds Light on NASCAR’s Potential Return | Speed51

They're probably gonna have a fight with both the city and the state if they do. I honestly don't see how they'll get past the Tennessee Department of Environmental conservation regulations that prevent building within 300 feet of a waterway. There's a creek you can throw rocks into if you stand in turn three. The amount of seats they'd have to add for cup would also be a lot in a very, very, very tight space.

I'm not sure why Tony thinks the political stuff will go so smoothly when it hasn't been smooth for the fairgrounds in over thirty years. He knows why NASCAR left, he knows the city presented an ultimatum that made improving the track impossible, he knows the city council has been trying to get rid of that track for decades, and he knows he was given the lease over SMI at least once in the last few lease agreements.

They also haven't even begun to work on the political processes yet, which is probably why that Tennesseean article was written.

Basically, if SMI wants it, they're going to have to pay tens of millions of dollars for improvements to a piece of property they'll never own.

I don't know why he's gone from doom and gloom just a few days ago to convinced everything is going to work out. They need to hurry up and make their case to the fair board so they can get it to the council and try to make their case in an extremely hostile room. There's only one councilman that's said anything about the track. The mayor's office still hasn't heard anything about funding the project.

I'm also curious where this parking garage he's talking about is coming from. I've been following this from the beginning and this is the first I've heard of a parking lot. Lack of parking was one of the major points people made during the whole process, and the plans have been approved.

I'd love to see it but they have so many hurdles to jump over and practically no one with decision making power is on their side.
