Native American Chief David Bald Eagle, who appeared in the Oscar-winning 1990 film Dances With Wolves, has died aged 97. The grandson of Chief White Bull, who fought in the Battle of the Little Bighorn in 1876, Bald Eagle appeared in more than 40 films.

I totally agree with you in the sense that the actions of the past have definitely contributed to the today shittiness of life on a reservation, the US government has fucked over the native americans in a myriad of ways, all of which have left the remaining native americans impoverished and crime stricken. I absolutely agree with you, and I think it's abhorrent. But yet again, there's not much that can be done. Nobody alive now is guilty of anything that happened, thus you can't really do much.

And about your source. Read through this thread and the comments with others. I have never ONCE claimed that colonists didn't know at some point that they could infect native americans with diseases that would kill them. What I'm saying is that in the very beginning, within the first contacts they had no idea, and those original contacts were the most pivotal in the death of natives all across the americas. Hell, some theorise the conquistadors were the major reason for the death of the vast majority of natives all across the continent. My beef was with the fact that some people claim that the majority of natives were killed by colonists, that's untrue. The majority were killed by unintended disease, not purposeful blanket infection.
