Native Populations in America are one of, if not, the worst treated race in America

Look up residential schools. The last one closed down in the 90's. Newfoundland refused to apologize for running them because 'they weren't part of Canada' at the time, ignoring the fact that they did run them.

People with status cards were not allowed to own land or vote unless they gave up their status. There are still little laws and loop holes that the government uses to try and force those with status to give it up. More recently it had to do with parents who had status, but children who did not qualify. These kids would fall through the cracks for assistance with medical/dental/optical/scholarship etc. The band cannot recognize them because the do not hold status, and the government would say it was the band's problem, and if the families wanted the government to do something they would have to give up their status to get help.

There are more I'm sure, those are just some that I/my family have encountered in the last 60 or so years.
