Native woman tweets about facing racism at Women's March - what are your thoughts? Did you go through something similiar at your March?

A thousand times yes, and the most ardent are still defending it elsewhere ffs. Then they wonder why WOC don't feel comfortable posting in a sea of white apologisms where any woman not jumping on the notallwhitewomen train or even just pointing out she has good points many of us feel aside from her transphobia comment... are ignored and/or voted down.

The MRA "asking for it" reasoning in the top fucking comment is disgusting. Really goes to show how very little idea of what it is to be an indigenous woman or even have basic empathy for us when a sub supposedly centering women has a highly upvoted comment saying if you're in public, you should expect people to be rude, to gawk and take pictures like you're a spectacle because you deserve it for not coming to the rally in white face but rather your own cultural garb? Fucking seriously? Misogynists say women who wear skimpy clothing should expect to get raped because they're obviously asking for it by the way they dress in public. I guess non-white cultures should expect the same by insufferable assholes who walk right through prayer circles and turn you/your culture/your religion into a kitschy joke saying stupid shit like teehee I guess we're Indians today. Literally objectifying us.

Next time some dickbag throws their arm around me and snaps a selfie like I'm an object put there for their use, not a person worth asking because they "think I look cool" (read: will gain them positive social media points) or grabs at my body/adornments without permission asking invasive questions, or yells "ABWABWABWA" at me from across the street then laughs like a dying walrus because I'm omw somewhere in traditional non-white-approved-for-daily-use-clothing, I'll just remember my GC sisters well-versed in white apologetics overwhelmingly feel I deserve to be made a spectacle and joke for daring to exist in white spaces like an accidentally constant reminder that the genocide has never stopped and they are benefitting from the actions of those who soaked this land in blood as they stole it.

History is so inconvenient sometimes, isn't it? Especially when it's still 100% fucking relevant and shaping views/actions/white patriarchy.

Knowing something can happen is not the fucking same as a goddamned invitation for it to happen nor should it imply acceptance of it happening and I cannot BELIEVE I have to point that out HERE of ALL places!!! Even my naturally-white-passing sister who has said straight up racist shit to me thinks the way she's seen me treated just trying to exist moving through white spaces in non-white clothing is despicable, and she's a sexist as fuck conservative christian who mostly pretends she can't see race cause she's had a black best friend since she was a baby. Even she sees the difference and knows it's wrong. I never thought she in her current state would still be a better ally than "feminists" ffs. This is a new low.

Anyway every one of your comments (and La Diabla's) was spot on and upvoted by me. If this sub had more than a solitary few of us women from Indian country, guaranfuckingteed you'd have tons more upvotes. I couldn't have said any of it better or more succinctly myself. Thank you for being a voice of reason for those of us tired of being constantly expected to spoonfeed our oppressors their education like it's somehow different when white women do it regarding racism compared to their counterparts: males who expect women to spoonfeed them feminist education. "But you're derailing if you won't educate us on how we can help!" First step: fucking realize your education is personal and your own responsibility. Sally fucking forth. In curing their ignorance, they'd find ways to help because there are many. But asking people to do their own work these days is too much apparently. This repetitive shit is straight up exhausting. High fucking five for enduring it so well, sister.

What are your thoughts on a GC/radfem WoC sub where we don't have to entertain this shit when we don't want to? I can't find one but I've seen lots of calls for one and I'm tired of WOC leaving this sub because they're fed up with the whitewashing and/or blatant racism featured too often for comfort here. This thread alone and my visceral disgust with upvoted pro-ignorance comments in it make me feel like leaving, too.

Anyhow, I'm curious about your thoughts, because if you or someone else doesn't make the sub, then I will, especially after this thread. I thought it might be time a few weeks ago but yeah, it's past time. Would you participate or even mod there? she asks, full of tiny hope
