NBC: Andy Beshear is the apparent winner in the Kentucky governor race

I'm really not?

I'm a highly liberal born-and-bred native Kentuckian. I'm not saying this isn't good news, I'm freaking ecstatic, but there are a lot of outsiders making this seem like Kentucky went through some huge blue wave tonight.

We didn't.

Bevin was despised by many, yet only lost by 4,000 with a high voter turnout. We have only had 2 Republican governors since WW2. If you look at all other races we had tonight - every. single. one was MASSIVELY won by Republicans.

Beshear winning was more about people disliking Bevin than it was the Republican party.

If you're going to say it's a false narrative, then back it up - I've been here and lived through it every day. I've seen what's actually happening, and while this is a huge win I'm incredibly thankful for, people are being ridiculous if they think McConnel is now threatened. The only shot we have against him is McGrath, and she lost to Andy Barr significantly.

Basically, the comment I replied to was saying this was "Kentucky turning blue finally" - again, it's not. We've usually had Democrat governors, and Republicans easily won all the other elections here.
