Neal Gaiman/Alan Moore? -Saturday Open Book Thread [July 7, 2018]

Howdy! New to the sub, but long time reader of dc (on and off). Decided to get back into DC with TPs this time of round and could use some help.

I recall when reading the individual issues back in the day there was a TON of overlap pretty much everywhere. If I wanted to read Batman I'd have to also read the rest of the Bat-family titles to get the full story. (The exception seemed to be Batwoman.)

When I was reading the Wonder Woman TPs I think it was... volume 3ish I recall mentioning the Forever Evil event so didn't bother continuing with the next volume. Etc etc.

So my question is this: What series (if not all) do I have to read other titles in order to not get lost? Like I just bought all of Earth 2 and Worlds Finest only to see a Constantine tie-in towards the end. So I picked up Constantine and now it seems like Forever Evil is also going to be an issue (pun intended) in addition to probably also needing Justice League Dark? Which isn't a problem, read some and thoroughly enjoyed this series but if I pick up JLD it'd probably help with Swamp Thing (or was it Agents of SHADE?) and Amethyst (to a lesser degree). Then Swamp Thing also had ties to Animal Man iirc?

Or am I actually able to just pick up volumes 1-6/1-4/etc. and read straight through then pick up the event titles whenever?

Eventually want to catch up and go through Convergence through to Rebirth. Figured by the time I'm done with most of the New 52 stuff a nice chunk of Rebirth trades will be available. But right now I'm feeling majorly confused and overwhelmed with all these events and cross-overs.
