Neat

I remember this one kid in high school, probably 6’9, was being told that he’d be good at basketball. I don’t think he had ever played much before becoming what you might call “new tall”. He started playing pick-up games during lunch in the gym. You might think he would instinctively just go stand under the basket, but this guy didn’t seem to understand which part of basketball he would be best at. It looked like he thought, because people had been telling him, that because he was tall he would be good at basketball. He connected in his brain that he could just easily go out on the court and be like Michael Jordan or Magic Johnson, making insane passes and fadeaway shots and dribbling technique. He sucked. Somebody had to tell him which part of basketball his enormous height was best for. Just stand under the basket, dude.
