Aww! I’ve never understood people who take other people’s groceries. That’s just so rude. I’d suggest clearly telling them you’re on a finite, limited budget and to please stop taking your food.

People often do what they can get away with, and they may think you’re too nice to say anything. You can also label your stuff with your name and “do not take” as a reminder. You could also consider getting a mini fridge and swapping your door knob with one that has a key lock. You can buy those at the hardware store for little money and it’s not hard to do. I did it myself back when I was younger.

I’d try talking to them about the things they are saying about you behind your back. If it’s a misunderstanding or something that can be improved between you guys, it would be good to see how you all can improve it. If it’s malicious and they’re just saying mean stuff to be hurtful, that’s another story and you’ll need to approach it differently. Just gauge the source of it first so you can determine your approach.
