We need to be careful about how we talk about this illness and its affects

I don't believe any scientist would link YouTube, the Washington post and a Facebook group as a source of evidence after reading the scientific literature. Nor would they after reading the literature believe that the loss of taste and smell from a viral infection requires a "blockage" (it doesn't), or that the disruption to smell and taste being prolonged following a respiratory viruses is something new. Or that it being permanent in a small minority following viral infections is new, and that it's completely treatable by steroids because after a cold it is all about a blockage as you claim above.

Though being that this virus has been around just about a year, there isn't evidence of these symptoms being permanent for anyone who has had it as can be the case for other viruses. One would assume in a minority this would be the case, based on other very similar viral infections, but the virus hasnt been around long enough to observe this in those who've actually had it. This is because there are many cases where a person can lose or have limited smell and taste for lengthy periods following viral infections only for them to recover their senses fully.

You are making yourself sick with anxiety by reading the fearmongering in the main stream media, joining those groups which are toxic, and overall just believing the worst. You've had a virus, that happens to be a very typical respiratory virus. You've lived your entire life with viruses, and the fact that viruses can in a minority cause prolonged after effects, post viral conditions, damage, and chronic illness etc. Yet, because of the absolute hysteria which yes you are buying into, you're sitting there full of anxiety assuming the worst and obsessing over how your recovery will go. It's as if this is the first virus you've ever had.
