We need a change in how we draft.

We've been to the playoffs 6 of the last 7 years, and won a Super Bowl in there. You think we have the defense we had this year without Mosley? We don't need to change anything. Playoffs are always a crap-shoot. Look at the Patriots. They get a bye pretty much every year for the last 10 years, but haven't won it all since 2004. Meanwhile the Giants have won two Super Bowls. The way I see it, most years, any team that makes the playoffs has a legit shot at winning it all. From there, it's about staying healthy and getting hot at the right time. Just look at the 2012 team. We sucked the last month, got healthy for the playoffs, and Joe went HAM. Result : Superbowl. Then look at the 2006 team. Arguably the greatest team we've ever fielded. 13-3. First round bye. Got cold for one game, went home empty handed. I always thought it was kind of funny that we won the Super Bowl the year we did, because I honestly thought it was the worst Harbaugh team, talent wise, up to that point, and yet it was the year we won. Like I said, it's a crap shoot. This year we got hot, but weren't healthy on defense. I'm rambling. Anyway, the bottom line is, our current front office does a great job at building playoff teams. From there, it's pretty much out of their hands. No need to overreact and suggest we fire the people responsible for our success.

And as far as wide receivers go, Smith had a great year. If a rookie put up those kinds of numbers he'd be seen as a great success. He was matched up against the best corner in the conference on Saturday. You honestly think a rookie would have done better? No. The only difference it would have made last game is that our defense would have been a little worse without Mosley. And it's not like we would have had a shot at the top tier guys anyway. Evans, Beckam, and Watkins were all gone by 17. Benjamin, Cooks, and Mathews were the guys on the board when we drafted.

And I don't know it you noticed, but the Patriots don't really have a true #1 receiver either. Their best weapon is a TE, kinda like we were with Heap a few years back. That's what happens when you're consistently good enough to never get a top pick.
